OMG, It's Cleavage Mahabharata

https://www.indiblogger.in/indipost.php?post=395263

All hell broke loose when Kaurava Times of India (KATTI), Bharat’s most defiled Daily decided to do a cheer-haran of Draupadi Padukone’s cleavage. Given she’s in the entertainment business that requires an actress to reveal her proportionate assets and acting skills with equal zeal, it’s a given that her assets are public property, meant to be leered at by all. Men and women have equal rights to gaze at them including KATTI that has the right to flaunt it on her behalf.

Just like the guy in the Metro who thinks it is his birth right to take candid shots of that girl’s cleavage that pops out when she bends down to pick up her book. In fact, every woman who flaunts her curves in a fitted dress and dares to reveal her legs is giving an open invite to men to come and pay their respects. Walk around town in an attire that displays even a hint of your cleavage and you’ll have a dozen pair of eyes boring through your dress, willing it to fall apart.

Didn’t our history of repeat offences teach you that anything’s that’s not covered invites appreciation of the lowest kind?

So, when Draupadi wears an outfit that reveals more than just her face, she should expect KATTI to run an OMG slideshow of her cleavage. And if she objects to it, it’s obviously well-timed to garner more publicity for her Fanny.

Look, I get it, it’s impossible to keep your eyes and cameras off a woman dressed ‘tantalizingly’. It becomes your duty to stare, take close-up shots and share them for the greater good of humanity. Isn’t it time women stopped overacting and accepted it as a compliment instead?

When I step out of my house wearing a figure hugging outfit, I am well aware that people will look. But there’s a difference between the look that makes you squirm and the look that makes you feel good. The difference between discreetly looking versus leering is the acknowledgement that the person in question is a person and not an object.

Maybe Draupadi outrage is just a publicity stunt, as KATTI would have us believe. Maybe her outrage about KATTI’s lack of decency is more of role-play. But the real issue here is not the genuineness of her outrage but a woman’s prerogative to decide what’s inappropriate and what’s not.

Today, KATTI went ahead and proved yet again why its India’s most defiled Daily by running a full page expose on ‘Draupadi Padukone’s’ hypocrisy and splashed its front page with pictures of her bare all-dare all photo shoots. Agreed that the lady in question loves flaunting her body on and off screen — while dancing on stage, posing for magazine covers or doing photo ops at movie promotional functions. Comes with the turf of glamour and glitz.

But, what they have yet to comprehend is the thin line that divides their OMG Deepika's cleavage show and the magazine photo shoots where she bares it all - it’s called consent.

  1. Consent! The KATTI obviously does not know what it is !

  2. A clevage always gets attention but whether it is apprciated or leered at,the lady is a better judge! However, all said, the print and TV media need to be restrained when it comes to making news of things which may not be in good taste!

  3. Consent is precisely what they don't have in their dictionary Purba. Such a silly reply they have put in the newspaper.

  5. When the leading national newspaper thinks the way they do, what can we expect from others? They made it worse by publishing the pictures. That one word - consent is beyond most men. Loved the punch line.

  11. Here is what Marilyn Monroe said famously, "The trouble with censors is that they worry if a girl has cleavage. They ought to worry if she hasn't any." It's interesting to see a broadsheet well past its expiry date trying to censor the lives of the glitterati. Perhaps they are getting together their act as the mouthpiece of ISIS?

  12. There happened a hot discussion over cleavage on Twitter long time back. Then the focus was on Australia's PM. There in a reply I found a video entitled cleavage 101 something by a young female. The video I think should be available on YouTube now also. It is an appropriate answer to stunt like these.

  22. Maybe i am from the old school, but i beg to differ from the comments above.
You have stated that it is:--
'a woman’s prerogative to decide what’s inappropriate and what’s not.'
Yes,it is certainly THAT,but when an actor goes out in a dress she knows very well that she will be photographed and the pics will also be shared in the media. So ,is this not her consent?

    1. What I should have mentioned but did not is the reaction a woman gets when she decides to raise her voice against what she thinks is inappropriate. Suddenly her motives become suspect and people start speculating about her character or the rather the lack of it.

  23. Quite a good post.
I am pretty sure TOI is being run by the Khaps now. It is either that or they are now employing all those who have been accused of throwing acid on girls.
Their journalism has been reduced to activism and trolling to get maximum eye balls.
Seriously, for TOI all we can give is a massive face palm.

    1. If an actress has to rake up a needless controversy about her cleavage being used to get more readers for a publication, Bollywood should do a rethink on the kind of movies it makes. I think Finding Fanny is not the kind of movie that needs cheap publicity.

  42. Humans are hypocrite. The only difference: the bigger you are, more visible you are. I'm sure there are billions of men and women in league with TOI. And I'm equally sure there are many "so-called" open-minded people/bloggers/writers who are bashing TOI on public/social forums and then stopping ladies at their home from wearing certain things. -_-

  44. I think there are many cultures across the world where women are appreciated and not leered at because cleavage is no big deal and women walk around topless. I think the leering happens because we Indians expect our women to be responsible for their safety by conforming to too many norms. Let women go around nude, and in 50 years time, rape will stop in India.
